Hi to the NULS community,
Firstly I would like to say sorry for the delay. I came back from South Africa to attend 2 regional events for NULS last Sunday and was quite busy with work back log. But let's start from the beginning of the month.
First, the NULS local community is now 366 on our facebook NULS_Africa site and growing steadily.
On the 8th August, I went to Blockchain social hour, not many attendees but we talked about Hustlemania, another interesting project that wants to educate "normal people" about Blockchain, creating a wallet, and the concept of Market forces in a Bidding contest. Here is a description of their project, https://medium.com/xtm-plus/hustlemania-1a954b50102a .
I have also forwarded their pitch deck to David Wasson to see if they could be a interesting partner marketing wise.
I attended the pilot project on the 22 nd August and gave 100 NULS tokens for the participants to bid on. Of course I explained about NULS and the coming Chain Factory as each participant needed to bring something of value to offer for a Bid. The show will air soon and I will definitely send the link
I attended the first Indian / African investors' summit taking place in Mauritius on the 16-17 th of August. Here is a link to the event website, http://africa-india.org/india_africa_startup_summit/
Here are some pictures I took from that Indian / African investors' Summit.
I met some very interesting people from both India and Africa, and some interesting Projects, one called Dizzitup, that aims to provide households in Africa with Solar Powered electricity with other services like Internet access, and Satelite TV access with Blockchain as payment network. They are planning to use an ERC20 token, but I of course pushed for NULS as we have superior tech and better TPS. The Founder and CEO, whom I met, is keen to use NULS but he was looking for funding, so if the community find their project worthwhile (Which I do think is a Very good project for Africa) , then they might qualify for SCO lab. Please check out their project and get back to me, it is one of the best projects that I have come across in all the meetings and events I have attended for NULS. Check out their video on dizzitup.com/ and give me feedback if you think it is a project that NULS could partner with.
On the 27th August, I flew to Johanesburg , South Africa, for Chain Reaction 2.0, a big regional event organised by BECSA (Blockchain Entrepreneur Club of South Africa), held a Radisson Blu where there were very interesting speakers like Fluffy Poney, one of the founders of Monero, some exchanges and an famous economist. I met some interesting people there , talked about SCO to some projects that are already have an project on Tron , they are based in South Africa but operate a token called Zimbocash in Zimbabwe.
By the way, on the day I arrived in South Africa, I got my phone stolen (A brand new Samsung Note9) in the middle of the day just outside the train station as I was using it for directions. Lucky I was not injured as the criminals in Africa normally kill you before they take your stuff. I ended up spending about half a day at the police station to give my statement ...
So I stayed 5 days in Johanesburg and flew directly from there to Cape Town for Cryptofest 2019 which was held on the 7th September 2019. It was a great event, here is the event website:
I met ATHENA YU, Executive Director of Binance Blockchain Charity Foundation (BCF) and made an initial contact, and I also talked to 2 local exchanges (altcointrader.co.za and valr.com) that will send me their listing policies as I asked for a potential NULS listing. I believe it would be a great exposure if next year the Chain factory is launched to be either a Gold (USD 1500) or Platinum (USD 3000) sponsor for that event and also get a speaker slot so as to showcase the Chainfactory and its features the the African Blockchain community. I am currently also talking to another exchange named Latoken to see their listing conditions then forward them to the core team for review.
I also met 2 interesting projects at Afritech's "Startupbootcamp" accelerator program, one involved in a crowdfunding platform for Agri businesses in Zimbabwe and one involved in putting the Nigerian land tittle deeds on a Blockchain. The latter is currently working on the Nem Blockchain but could move to NULS if they could reach an interesting funding deal with NULS. A lot of interesting Use case in Africa, but they are all looking for funding.
So it was a very rich month of August with many good results in my opinion, now it would be good if we could finalise some deals. Since I went to many events and also took 4 flights, it was also a month full of expenses. Unfortunately in terms of my ambassador node, I had to disconnect it for about 2 weeks in the month of August / September from 28th August till around the 13th sept because it started getting yellow cards and also with the move to NULS 2.0.
So here is a summary of the NULS received and the Expenses incurred for August and Beginning September, the Balance will go to the September revenue since for September I am not planning big expenses and overseas travel.
Approx value of NULS = USD 0.45
Balance from previous month: - 94 NULS
Received from Ambassador Node: approx 1800 NULS (1st-28th August)
BUDGET FOR NULS Ambassador activities = 900 NULS
NULS given for Hustlemania = 100 NULS
Fuel Costs = USD 50 = 110 NULS
Cost of Air Ticket to South Africa = USD 704 = 1564 NULS
Accomodation = USD 313 (Johanesburg) + 244 (cape town) = USD 557 = 1238 NULS
Travel / Food expenses = USD 180+ 282 = USD 462 = 1027 NULS
Ticket cost for Events = USD 40 = 89 NULS
Total expenses = 4128 NULS
Balance = -94 + 900- 4128 = - 3322 NULS carried forward for September and possibly October / November as I am not planning to incur any big expenses for these months.
Of course, all invoices , except for taxi rides, can be scanned and annexed to this report if requested. I will also work on my abassador proposal for the coming quarter. Thank you to the NULS community for believing in me and in Africa's potential.
